Hypnotizer Cabinet
2023
Cherry, milk paint
Figured cherry with carved panels that ripple out in concentric circles – you might get lost in this tall cabinet if you aren’t careful. I haven’t done much carving work and when I have, I kind of hate it. Through persistence, though things eventually can take some shape. The carving shows my learning curve a bit and the painted surface highlights those tool marks where I was figuring out direction and pressure throughout the process.
This piece will be a part of a show at the Center for Design & Material Culture at the University of Wisconsin, Madison that opens in October. Along with it will be pieces from the rest of the staff here at @bcstudentcraft along with the current products we make and historic objects from the Student Craft archives. Very excited to see all of this work in one place!
